Getting Closer

Up early and both of us well rested. Big push for home today.....I couldn't do it but HH thinks he can so we will see. Sun coming up and weather looks good.

Made it across MO and then the long ride north through IL. Loved finally seeing signs for Rockford. Henry looks very tired but determined to sleep in his own bed tonight.

In our driveway at 8:30. Called the neighbor to let them know we are back early and not burglers, locked up the camper, showered and fell into bed.

Amazed at the really huge banks of snow Jon cleared for us to get in and to the house, can't picture 19 inches of snow until you see it in person. We are lucky to have good sons close by.

Home Is Sounding Better & Better

Did not make it as far as Tucumcari as a very tired HH opted to stop for the night in Santa Rosa, NM in a nice enough LaQuinta motel. I was delighted to see they had a recliner so spent a comfortable night reclining....much better than trying to lay propped up in bed where eventually I feel like a turtle on his back and helpless to move w/o HH. Pleased with our progress and now long for home and familiar things around us. Son Jon has the driveway cleared of the huge anount of snow we got so the welcome mat is out and the house is waiting. Henry, driver, male nurse, companion and tear drier has been wonderful but we are both getting tired of one armed travel.

Hope to make it out of NM, across the panhandle of TX and through OK today. Great driving weather except it is always windy.

Have stopped for the night in Joplin. MO. Super HenryHoney has found a wonderful suite for us. Big overkill with full kitchen, two TVs but a wonderful huge bathroom and a leather recliner..I'm past ready for it.

First Leg Home

Have had perfect travel weather and today should be the same. Up early and sit comfortably in the truck while HH secures the camper and loads the bikes. We are at Karchner Caverns State Park south of Benson and north of Sierra Vista, AZ so will leave soon travel east and hope to spend the night in Tucumcari, NM at a motel. I'm doing OK, Nights are not the best but do-able.

Day of Rest

Henry is using today as a rest day before the long trip home. When the camper gets secured this time it will not be used again. We will motel as we travel home. Plans are to leave early tomorrow morning and run the max each day. Waiting for further word from my primary physician in WI but won't hear until Monday.

A Visit With the Orthopidic MD

Spent 2 hours at the MD and about 15 minutes with the MD..isn't that always the way. He confirmed what we already knew about the fracture and advised us to "Go Home", make an appt with local Opod \, get new x-rays to check the current positioning of the two bone parts and then the long process of Physical Therapy. So the decision is made at last...HH will rest a day (Fri) and we will turn to the east on Saturday early am.
